The Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest shares its expertise in the culture and history of eighth to 15th-century Al Andalus, and what that means to society today. Forgotten tales of world-travellers, philosophers, epicures and musicians are told in presentations and discussions. The aim is to establish a stronger place for this knowledge in school curricula, community-centre activities, and youth-centre programmes. Over the past few years, these lectures have been given in colleges, universities, women’s organisations and community centres, to people from various target groups and from different areas of expertise.
